Real lessons from our Client Trust Kits
Some people think case studies are just about hitting record. Ask a few questions, grab a few soundbites, and let the editor work their magic.
But in reality? A polished video without a clear message is just noise.
At Honey Bee Media, we take a strategy-first approach. And that changes everything-not just how the story is told, but the impact it has.
Here’s why it matters. And how we’ve seen it work in the real world.
Without strategy, the message drifts
A well-edited video can feel impressive-but if the content isn’t anchored to a goal, it won’t land the right message.
That’s why we start every Client Trust Kit with a strategy session.
Our plumbing client, Oceania Plumbing, wanted more property managers on their books. Owner Joe Currey explained it was regular, repeat work – so it made sense to him to invest in resources that would help him attract those kinds of clients.
To do that, we interviewed one of his current property clients, Naomi Baber, from Baber & Co, a boutique property management firm on the Gold Coast.
Naomi Baber had worked with Oceania Plumbing for over a year, relying on them for urgent jobs, problem-solving, and day-to-day support.
During our interview, we uncovered what mattered most to Naomi: not just that Joe and his team could do the work-but that they understood the pressure she was under.
We shaped the interview to dig into that. We asked:
“What’s it like when you send a job to a contractor?”
And more importantly:
“What’s different about how Joe handles it?”
That helped Naomi open up about the mental load she carries as a property manager. She explained how rare it is to find someone who doesn’t need chasing. Someone who just gets it done.
That set the tone for the rest of the story-and it spoke directly to other property managers watching.
Another great example is Sara Waldron, a newly single mum and client of Keen On Property.
During our interview, she spoke not just about buying a house, but about regaining stability at a critical time. The strategy session revealed that the most powerful message wasn’t about the logistics of the purchase, but the outcome it enabled: staying in the school catchment, keeping her kids in separate bedrooms, and giving them all a fresh start.
Her words were raw, honest, and powerful:
“We’re in a beautiful gated complex where we feel safe, the girls have got a pool, we’ve got a community here and for that I’m super grateful.”
It’s not just about the property. It’s about what the property made possible.
That story resonated deeply with other time-poor, emotionally stretched single parents navigating high-stakes decisions. And it wouldn’t have come to life without a clear strategic lens.
Good questions aren’t enough. You need the right ones.
We don’t rely on pre-set scripts. Every interview is tailored based on the strategy. What message are we trying to land? Who are we speaking to? What pain point are we addressing?
That’s how we draw out the moments that matter-the ones that actually convert.
In Naomi’s case, we weren’t just asking about completed jobs. We were uncovering why she kept coming back.
The tone was respectful. The questions were designed to help her reflect. And the final result?
A story that showed what it feels like to have a contractor you trust on speed dial.
That’s a world of difference from a generic testimonial.
When your message is clear, the story can do its job
Without strategy, you get quotes. With strategy, you get impact.
Case studies aren’t about what you’ve done. They’re about the kind of work you want to attract next.
That means every question, every angle, every edit has to serve the story that sells the right version of you.
We don’t start with the camera.
We start with the strategy.
And that’s why our case studies work.
